Yes — always. Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness, not unconsciousness. You remain fully aware throughout, can speak and move freely, and will never do or say anything against your values or wishes. The therapist guides; you choose.
It depends on the presenting issue and the individual. Some clients notice significant change after one or two sessions. Others benefit from a structured series of four to six. We discuss this honestly in your initial consultation so you know what to expect.
For the vast majority of presenting issues, yes. Research supports the effectiveness of telehealth hypnotherapy. Many clients actually find it easier to relax in their own environment. All you need is a quiet space and a stable internet connection.
Most people describe it as deeply relaxing — similar to the feeling just before falling asleep, but with a gentle, alert awareness. You may feel heaviness, warmth, or a pleasant sense of detachment from everyday thoughts. Afterwards, clients often feel lighter and clearer.
Most people can enter a therapeutic trance state. The ability improves with practice and willingness. It is not about being "weak-minded" — in fact, people with higher focus and imagination often respond very well. We tailor our induction style to suit each person.
Some Australian private health funds cover clinical hypnotherapy under their extras cover. We recommend checking with your provider directly. We can supply a receipt for you to claim against your policy where applicable.
Never. Each session is written and delivered specifically for you, based on your intake, your language, your metaphors, and your goals. This is a core principle of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and it is what makes it significantly more effective than generic approaches.
Just arrive — or log on — with an open mind. Avoid alcohol or heavy meals beforehand. Wear comfortable clothing. You do not need to prepare anything specific. The intake conversation at the start of your first session covers everything we need to know.
